| Braveheart |
I couldn't help but think of the movie Braveheart when Mary Stewart was talking about the cultural symbolism of color in Chapter 9 of Launching the Imagination. So, that led me to research the meaning of the blue warpaint William Wallace and his Scottish warrior lads wore on battle day. Well...historical scholars think that the screaming hordes of Scotsmen during that period (1000 - 1300 AD) probably did not wear warpaint, however, blue face paint does give the movie extra artistic quality which is the important part, right? Seriously though, the Scottish flag is blue with a white X or cross running through it. Writing this blog is so educational :)
