I may use that old cliche' in my poster project. Mary Stewart talked about cliche', metaphor, and other tools for propaganda in Chapter 8 of Launching the Imagination. There were lots of good examples of political, social, and commercial expression. I particularly liked the poster on page 167 by the Iomega Corporation, "Y2K's coming. Don't Just Sit There." Do you remember the days leading up to Y2K? I do. We bought lots of dried beans. Disaster readiness at its best!
