My self-portrait is based on a poetic metaphor from the New
Testament book of Hebrews. A Christian’s life
is grounded in verses 19 and 20 of chapter 6; “We have this hope as an anchor
for the soul, firm and secure. It enters
the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has
entered on our behalf.” Although it is
not a scroll of Hebrews, the background is Greek (the language used to write
the New Testament) and the anchor is old, worn, and rusty but planted firmly in
the ground; kind of like...me.
